Daniel advises many of the nation’s leading allopathic medical education programs on achieving and maintaining accreditation by the AAMC Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME); the accrediting body certified by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit allopathic medical education programs in the United States. Over the past six years, Daniel has successfully advised more than a dozen schools on LCME accreditation matters, representing nearly 10% of all accredited M.D. degree-granting programs in the United States.
Daniel has also successfully assisted universities and private organizations alike in conceptualizing, developing, and launching new medical education programs; often working with sponsoring universities, philanthropists, and private supporting organizations from day one through the achievement of preliminary, provisional, and those school’s first full accreditation by the LCME.
On a daily basis, Daniel works closely with senior administrators and faculty representatives to develop effective continuous quality improvement programs, improve faculty governance processes, and update/implement new policies, procedures, and processes. Daniel is responsible for conducting accreditation risk assessments, policy gap analyses, and managing document and DCI preparation processes as part of the LCME accreditation process. He frequently serves as a mock site visitor for leading medical education programs and is known for his ability to work closely with site visit participants to prepare them for addressing the LCME site visit team during both regular and limited site visits.
As an attorney by training, Daniel began his career legal consultant in New York City to numerous global investment banks and large institutional investors in the wake of the Global Financial Crisis. In this role, Daniel worked as part of a recognized team to advise clients on on emerging regulatory compliance measures and reporting requirements. In this role, Daniel learned the nuances of preparing complex regulatory filings and also developed the essential skills that enabled him to support and prepare witnesses in their testimonies before both state and federal regulatory agencies. During this time, Daniel has also lead independent third-party regulatory examination teams on behalf of the New York Department of Financial Services and advised the SEC and DOJ on both civil and criminal investigations.
Daniel graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Applied Economics, cum laude, where he was the recipient of numerous scholarships and a member of the intercollegiate policy debate team. Thereafter, Daniel obtained his Juris Doctorate from Fordham Law School and serving as a member of the moot court editorial board and as Notes and Articles Editor for the Journal of Corporate and Financial Law. Daniel is admitted to practice law in both New York and Colorado.
Outside of work, Daniel is a former national level road cyclist and an avid trail runner. In his free time, you can typically find Daniel in the snowy peaks around Leadville, Colorado with his puppy, Jayda, who accompanies him on training runs and cross country ski outings most evenings.
