Dr. Woods is the Head of Academic Affairs Advisory at EAS. Dr. Woods currently serves as the Inaugural Chair for the Department of Medical Education and as the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the John Sealy School of Medicine, University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). During her institution’s successful re-accreditation in 2022, Dr. Woods served as the Faculty Accreditation Lead and was responsible for leading the institutions internal re-accreditation initiatives.

With nearly two decades of experience in academic and curricular affairs, spanning four unique institutions in different states, Dr. Woods has been a staple in academic medicine and is highly regarded for her knowledge and broad experience in the fields of academic medicine, particularly in the areas of accreditation, academic administration, curriculum development, and assessment and evaluation.

For nearly five years, Dr. Woods has worked closely alongside EAS’s founder, Daniel Crespo, as an independent reviewer, mock site visitor, and as a consultant on academic and curricular accreditation elements. In this capacity She has advised numerous LCME-accredited institutions and has helped countless programs to obtain and/or maintain regional and programmatic accreditation. She is a trusted advisor to senior administrators and academic leaders at both new and existing allopathic medical education programs and is known for providing clear, candid, and actionable advise.

Dr. Woods’ broad expertise in learning, curriculum development, and assessment/evaluation at multiple institutions, combined with her work as a trusted academic affairs advisor to numerous other schools, uniquely qualifies her to lead the Academic and Curricular Affairs Advisory practice at EAS. In this role, she has helped numerous schools achieve re-accreditation, resolve and address citations and severe adverse decisions (SADs), and worked with several new schools to achieve preliminary and provisional accreditation.

Dr. Woods holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from Baylor University and a BA from the American School in London. She is a dual citizen of the United States and Finland, has lived abroad, and traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. When she is not working, Dr. Woods can be found walking the beach with her two matching labradoodles (aka “the Muppets”), attending her daughter’s violin concerts, or traveling abroad.
